EvZ Online Kata Competition 2026

Judging Date: 14 Mar 2026

Entry Fee: R130 per category.

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES & VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: 12 Mar 2026.

PAYMENTS: Proof of bulk payment to be submitted by 12 MAR 2026 by each Dojo Head!

Judging of the videos will be done live at the Kyalami Dojo at 12:15.

The EvZ Online Kata Competition now forms part of the Shotokan-ZA Online Amethyst League, wherein competitors accumulate points in each leg and at the end of the year, overall winners in each group will be announced.

AGE GROUPS (Kata & Kumite):
- Children 6 & under
- Children 7-8
- Children 9-10
- Children 11-12
- Mini Cadets (13)
- Cadets B (14-15)
- Cadets A (16-17)
- Juniors (18-20)
- Seniors (21-35)
- Veteran (36-49)
- Master (50+)
We reserve the right to combine divisions if there are less than 3 competitors in a division or split them to enhance the competition.

KATA BELT CATEGORIES:
- Kiddies White belts with a coloured stripe (10 Kyu)
- White (10 Kyu) to Pre-Yellow (9 Kyu)
- Yellow (8 Kyu) to Orange (7 Kyu)
- Green (6 Kyu) to Blue (5 Kyu)
- Purple (4 Kyu) to Red (4 Kyu)
- Brown (3-1 Kyu) to Jnr Black (1 Kyu)
- Shodan and above (Dan)

KATA LIST
1. Pre-School Kiddies: Yoyi Kata or Kihon Kata
2. White-Orange: Kihon Kata, Taikyoku Shodan, Heain Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan
3. Green-Blue: Shitei (Heian Shodan, Nidan, Sandan, Yondan or Godan)
4. Purple-Red: Shitei or Sentei
5. Brown -Jnr Black: Sentei or Tokui
6. Shodan and above: Tokui
7. Inclusive Kata: Any kata

INCLUSIVE KATA:
Ages: Children (12 & under), Cadets (13-17), Open (18 +)
Mixed Gender
Belts: White to Green (10-6 Kyu) and Blue to Black (5 Kyu+)
1. Pre-School to Jnr Black 3: Previous or new grading kata
2. Shodan and above: Sentei

Inclusive categories are specifically for students with medical conditions and/or special needs, such as: ADHD, Epilepsy, Autism, Physical disabilities, Profound hearing loss, Visual Impairments, Dyspraxia, Downs Syndrome, Tourette’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s etc.
