SOUTHERN OPEN TOURNAMENT 2026
We are excited to announce the Southern Open Tournament 2026!
This tournament is suitable for all levels and is designed to give everyone the opportunity to experience competition in a welcoming, supportive and encouraging environment.
Join us at Shoreham Academy for a fantastic day where fighters of all skill levels can demonstrate their abilities, gain valuable competition experience and share their passion for martial arts.
EVENT CATEGORIES
To ensure a fair and competitive environment, athletes will be placed into categories based on their total training experience.
Training experience should be calculated from the date the athlete first started training and must include any previous martial arts or kickboxing experience gained at other clubs.
FIRST-TIME COMPETITORS
Eligibility:
* Must never have taken part in a kickboxing competition before.
* NO SQUAD MEMBERS.
* NO BLACK BELTS.
This category is specifically designed to give genuine first-time competitors a safe, fair and supportive introduction to competition. The focus is on gaining experience, learning the rules, enjoying the competitive environment and building confidence on the mat.
NOVICE
0–24 months’ total training experience
Athletes should have no more than 24 months of total training experience.
INTERMEDIATE
25–36 months’ total training experience
ADVANCED
36+ months’ total training experience
Coaches and parents are encouraged to demonstrate honesty and integrity when entering athletes into categories to ensure fair competition across all levels.
If you have a fighter who, despite their length of training experience, you genuinely believe is not suited to the Advanced category, please discuss this with us before entering.

Due to the nature of the tournament, we are unable to provide exact timings for individual categories. We will aim to run the day broadly in age order.

Weight allowance: 0.5kg
If there are insufficient participants in a division, that division may be cancelled or alternative arrangements may be offered.
If we are unable to provide a suitable alternative, a refund will be issued.
No refunds will be given if a competitor is unable to attend on the day.

This competition will cover a variety of disciplines and will feature the following events:
Event Categories:
To ensure a fair and competitive environment, athletes will be divided into the following categories based on months of training experience: from the day they started training at you're club and to take into account of any previous experience from other club.
FIRST TIME COMPETITORS:
NOVICE: 0-24 MONTHS
ADVANCED: 24 MONTHS +
Eligibility: - NO SQUAD MEMBERS
This category is for the athletes who have never taken part in any kickboxing competetion before. It is designed to give first time competitors a safe and supportive introduction to the competitive environment. The focus is on gaining experience, learning the rules and building confidence on the mat.
NOVICE
Eligibility:
No more than 0-24 months of training experience.
Please ensure fairness and integrity when making these decisions.
INTERMEDIATE
Eligibility:
26 to 36 months of training experience.
ADVANCED
Eligibility:
36+ months of training experience.

For KBF fighters, this will happen during classes. For fighters from other clubs, please submit the weights no later than 15th February.

COACHES
Coach entry is complimentary within the following club allocation:
1–9 students entered – 1 coach FREE
10–20 students entered – 2 coaches FREE
Any additional coaches outside of the allocated allowance will be charged £10 per coach.
We kindly ask clubs to keep the number of attending coaches within their allocated allowance where possible.
SPECTATOR ENTRY- CASH ONLY
Spectators are very welcome to come along and support all of the competitors throughout the day.
