HELDERBERG LEAGUE

Dear Dojo Owners,

We are excited to invite your martial arts school to participate in this year’s Helderberg League Invitational, proudly hosted by Helderberg Shotokan Karate Academy.

As the second leg of the Western Province Karate & Kobudo League Championship, the Helderberg League continues to offer a competitive and friendly environment where athletes can showcase their skills, build camaraderie, and earn valuable points in the league rankings.

Why Participate?

The Helderberg League provides an excellent platform for your dojo to:

• Introduce Novices: Help your beginner students experience a competitive atmosphere in a welcoming environment.
• Prepare Competitors: Offer your experienced athletes an opportunity to refine their skills ahead of provincial and national championships.

Ranking System & Selection Criteria

The Helderberg League is part of the Western Province Karate & Kobudo League Ranking System, contributing to provincial rankings and forming an essential part of the selection criteria for the WUKF SA National Championships. Every competitor’s performance will influence their rankings, creating a transparent and fair process for team selection.

Important Notes:

• No Refunds: Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued for no-shows or competitors unable to participate due to illness on the day of the event.

Supporting the League:

To ensure the success of the event, we encourage all dojos to send referees, judges, and table officials. These leagues are an excellent opportunity to develop future officials in the Western Cape. Please register your referees, judges, and table officials on Kihapp to ensure smooth coordination.

Food & Refreshments:

The event will feature a snack shop and food stands to keep our competitors and spectators fuelled throughout the day. Card payment facilities will be available for convenience. Officials will be provided with refreshments during the event.

Live Streaming:

For those unable to attend in person, we will provide live streaming of all the floors. Links to the streams will be shared on Kihapp (Live) closer to the event, so no one misses out on the excitement.

Registration & Payment:
All entries and payments must be submitted through the Dojo Head. Dojo Heads are responsible for making bulk payments for their competitors. Please note that individual entries from students will not be accepted.

Key Deadlines:

• Entry Deadline: Friday, 16 May 2025

Timely entries are crucial to:

• Finalise Male & Female Divisions and correct any discrepancies.
• Prepare draw sheets and, if necessary, merge categories.
• Plan the tatami layout for a professional and efficient tournament.
• Determine the required number of referees, judges, and table officials.
• Finalise the Order of Events for the competition.
