General Information

KIBOU NATIONAL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP (KNKC) RULES

You must show Karate etiquette and respect in all categories. Points will be deducted for showing a lack of etiquette or respect to any opponent or referees. If you are 3 minutes late to your category, you will be disqualified.
Please understand that KNKC can change your category if the numbers for category are not met.

YOU MUST WEAR YOUR CLUBS AGREED UNIFORM AND THIS MUST BE PRESENTED AT A HIGH STANDARD. POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED IF YOUR UNIFORM IS NOT IMMACULATE.

NO BACK FLIPS CARTWHEELS OR MUSIC TO ANY CATEGORIES.

If you have queries about the scoring process then the competitor or club coach (only) must raise this with the administrative team, who will then raise this with the Head Judges.

No refunds will be given for non-attendance unless there are exceptional circumstances. This will be at the administrative teams discretion.

Points are scored at each championships to establish an overall Series Champion.

1st place - 15 points
2nd place - 10 points
3rd place - 5 points

DOORS OPEN 8.00 a.m. and competition starts at 9.00 a.m.

KATA/WEAPONS/TEAM KARATE
Kata is scored over 1 round. Dependent on years experience if there is a draw you will either be asked if 3 or more to perform a different Kata and scored again or to perform the same kata again, If 2 people draw then it will go straight a judges vote to determine the winner

Judge 1 is scoring you on Hand Techniques. Judge 2 kicks and Stances. Judge 3 performance power and etiquette.
each judge will be scoring you between 9.0 & 9.9

If you drop your weapon or forget your kata then you can complete your performance but will not be scored.

If you step off the area when performing the Kata you will NOT be marked down

To enter the area please enter directly from the back and not the side, you do NOT need to ask permission to perform your kata simply walk on name you kata and begin, after you have completed you kata wait to be scored and then make your way of the area.

Rounds will be scored 9.0 to 9.9
Scores are then added together to show a combined total.

KUMITE POINTS / TEAM KUMITE
Kumite will be timed rounds of 1min 30secs.
Children under 18 rounds will be first to 6 points.
Adult rounds will be first to 8 points or highest score at the end of the timed round.

Kumite kit must be WKF style gloves, shin guards, foot guards and gum shields.
Box, chest guard and head guards are not essential but are advisable.
Finger and toe nails must be cut short.

1 point for punch to head or body.
1 point for kick to body.
2 points for kick to head.
3 points for take-down with finish.
All kicks must be above the belt.
YOU MUST HAVE CONTROL AND RESPECT.

Team Kumite points are accrued by each team member.

WARNING RULES
1st warning - verbal
2nd warning - verbal
3rd warning - lose a point
4th warning - disqualified
