The Welsh Open

The Welsh Open is back for 2024!!!.....and this time, we host at the Vindico Arena in Cardiff!!

The Welsh Open is a Competition proudly presented by the NMAC where all clubs and styles are very welcome regardless of affiliations.

Run by Shihan Pete Fawbert, the International Vice-President of the WMAGC, this competition is being run in line with the World Martial Arts Games Committee as an official qualifying tournament for the 2025 WMAGC World Games in Dubai.

This event is officially and proudly sanctioned by ISKA

ALL REFEREES MUST REGISTER

ALL COACHES MUST REGISTER TO BE ABLE TO BE MAT SIDE.

Wristbands will be issued on the day.

All podium finishers that reside within England, Wales and Scotland will receive an invitation to join their National Teams!!

ALL 14-17 & 18+ OPEN CATEGORIES CARRY THE LARGE CASH PRIZES & GRAND CHAMPION BELT TITLES

Doors open at 8.00am. Competition will start at 9.15am

Weigh ins available at the following times:

Friday 14th June - 6pm-9pm
Saturday 15th June 7.00am-8.30am

YOU MUST MAKE WEIGHT - NO ALLOWANCES WILL BE ACCEPTED:

Kit Requirements

Points Sparring (Kickboxing) - headguard, Thumb covered points mitts, shin guards, groin guard, gum shield, full boots

Continuous - as above but with 8-16oz gloves depending age

Kumite (karate) - gum shield, wkf style hand mitts & shin/instep pads, groin guard/chest guard (optional)

There will be a briefing before the start of the competition for Coaches and Officials. The Event Arbitrator will be available to answer any questions regarding the rules for the Competition.

For Kickboxing;

Novice Competitor - under 2 years training
Advanced Competitor - 2+ years training

You must only register for categories that match your age, gender, rank, weight & height. The only options available to compete in divisions outside of this are the open divisions or to FIGHT UP (Points/Continuous)

All U18 fighters in Points & Continuous are allowed to fight up an age division but must stay within the same weight parameters - No allowance to go into Adult divisions!!

All Adult fighters in Points & Continuous are allowed to fight up a weight division and NOT age division!!

We reserve the right to DISQUALIFY athletes that have entered the incorrect category.

Please be advised that the competition may run later than 6pm, if you choose to leave before your category has run, NO refunds will be issued. If you fail to make weight, you will be disqualified and NO refunds will be issued.
