General Information

We are delighted to offer our 2nd United Mirae Kuk Sool Scottish Tournament.

Friday 1st September - All Black Belt Adults & Youth KSN Only.
Saturday 2nd September - All Coloured Belts and Black Belt Junior/Youth

Where numbers allow you will compete within your own belt rank and age group only, however in some instances we will need to combine divisions/age groups to create a fair competition. This can sometimes result in competitors competing with different forms and techniques. Our judges are trained in how to fairly score forms and techniques should this occur. Any division that has less than 3 competitors will be combined with another similar rank/age to create a fair but still competitive event.

Categories include:

Empty Hand Forms (Hyung)

Techniques - Each rank will demonstrate the same 3 techniques

Sparring - Light contact point sparring in 2 minute rounds

Board breaking - (Black Belts 18+ only)

Weapons (staff , long and short) - Brown Belt & DBN's staff spins, Black Belts: staff forms

Weapons (sword, double short) - Black Belts

Self defence routine - This is a brand new event where participants create their own 30 second routine incorporating any techniques into a fluid routine. You are scored on control, application & creativity. Any Kuk Sool technique appropriate to rank is permitted. This includes blocking, kicking, striking, rolling as well as the traditional Kuk Sool techniques. For over 18's you can also include knife defence. You can have a maximum of 2 attackers.

All Coloured Belt Sparring will take place once all other events are finished. So all kids sparring will do so once all the junior events have finished. Same with Youths and Adults. Depending on numbers you may be sparring people of different ranks but of similar age. There will be no more than one rank difference up or down. So a White Belt may have to compete with a Yellow Belt but not a Blue Belt, a Red Belt may have to compete against Blue and Brown. Divisions will be drawn up once registration has closed. Where possible it we will try to have same rank & age together.

There will be a tuck shop on site selling refreshments and there will be a merchandise stall selling tournament t-shirts for £15. These can also be preordered through your instructor.
