All events will follow the Traditional Shotokan Format:

Belts: White, Yellow & Orange
- Basic Kumite: 5-step sparring
- Shobu Ippon: Novice Category
- Kata: Heian Shodan (only)

Belts: Green, Blue & Purple
- Basic Kumite: 1-step sparring
- Shobu Ippon: Intermediate Category
- Kata: Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan & Heian Yondan

Belts: Brown & Above
- Basic Kumite: Jiyu Ippon
- Shobu Ippon: Advanced Category
- Kata - Round 1: Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan & Heian Yondan
- Kata - Round 2: Free Choice

SHOBU-IPPON - COMPULSORY SAFETY EQUIPMENT
- Groin Guards (Males) and Mouthguards and red and blue Mitts - All competitors.
- red and blue combined Shin/Instep Protectors - All competitors.
- chest protection (Females - Cadets, Juniors, Seniors & Veterans)
- face masks / head protection ALL Children (9 - 13 years)
- body protectors - All competitors.
