This seminar is for those that would like to learn the Eku kata Chino kata. Ideally novice to advanced level kata.
This is for those that are experienced and have a basic knowledge of the Eku and would like to take both seminars.

General Information

Dear Martial Artist,

You and your school are cordially invited to participate in the Treasure Valley Karate Tournament.

Friday, October 4th, 2024 - Seminars by Abby Knapp, featuring Weapon - Eku.

**Saturday, October 5th, 2024**
Schedule: (All times are MST)
**7:45 AM - Doors open
**7:45 AM - Athlete check-in begins
**8:00 AM - **MANDATORY** Referee/Judges/Coach Clinic begins
**10:00 AM - Opening Ceremony
**10:30 AM - Tournament begins with Black Belt divisions, followed by Youth under Black Belt

Important Information
**Coaches:**
- Coaches must attend the clinic to be eligible to coach.
- All coaches must sign a coach's agreement form and wear a coaching badge.
- Coaching criteria will be strictly enforced by ring managers.

**Referees/Judges:**
- A ring manager will be available to assist and guide new referees in improving their skills.

Order of Competition
1. Black Belts (Advanced): Kobudo Kata, Kumite (35+), followed by Youth ages and lower ranks
2. Age Groups: Starting with 5-year-olds
3. Rank: Beginning with White Belts (Beginners) and advancing upward to higher rank
4. Events: Kobudo, Kata, Kumite (Bring all gear to the ring)

6 & under kata and blocker sparring will go simultaneously

Team Kata:
- Team kata registrations are on an individual basis. Teams will be organized on the day of the tournament.

Hero's Kata Division
Veteran, Military & First Responders Division
This division is available to our Hero's that have served in any branch of military, first responders, or Medical Staff at hospitals.
This division will only be for those that fit the description above and are over the age of 18.

My 1st Tournament Kata Division:
This division is for brown belts and under if it is their very 1st competition they are participating in.
This division is not for those who are training to compete. This is ONLY for those who train in their traditional school for self-defense and are trying out competing for their 1st year.

If a student has competed once they will not qualify to do this division.
Referee's will be asking each family and student.
We want this to be a fair competition and a great learning experience for those that have NEVER competed.

Tournament Rules
This is a NON-CONTACT tournament.
- Protective Gear: Required: gloves, helmet, mouthguard, and groin protection (males).
- Contact Violations: 3 violations will result in disqualification.
- Disqualification: Any contestant causing injury maliciously will be disqualified immediately.

Specific Divisions Information
Little Dragons Divisions:
- For 4-, 5-, & 6-year-olds, including Kata, Kumite, and Blocker Sparring.
- All competitors will stage simultaneously regardless of event.

Combining Divisions:
Divisions may be combined by the following:
Kobudo - Male, Female and age groups may be combined together
Kata - Male, Female and age groups may be combined together
Kumite - Age groups, Male and Females will be kept separate

Grand Champion Divisions
These divisions showcase the day’s best Black Belt competitors.

- Adult Kata Grand Champion: Winners in Men & Women Black Belt Kata, Senior Black Belt Kata, & Black Belt Weapons.
- Youth Kata Grand Champion: Winners in Youth Black Belt Kata (all ages) & Youth Black Belt Weapons.
- Male Kumite Grand Champion: Winners in Adult Men’s Black Belt lightweight, middleweight, heavyweight, & Senior divisions.
- Female Kumite Grand Champion: Winners in Adult Women’s Black Belt lightweight & heavyweight, & Senior divisions.

Inclusive Categories
- Inclusive Divisions: Basics & Kata only.
- Eligibility: Competitors in these divisions cannot compete in regular divisions.
- Group A: Full mobility, higher cognitive skills. Competitor performs patterns with assistance from instructor/coach.
- Group B: Limited mobility or lower cognitive skills. The instructor/coach may perform techniques alongside the competitor.
- Group C: Wheelchair competitors. Techniques/forms are performed independently.
