General Information

Welcome to the 2nd Shotokan Connect Championships. The categories and format of this competition have been carefully selected to give every member opportunities to compete in multiple events, and make the most of what we are sure will be an enjoyable and successful day for everyone. The competition represents another significant achievement for our organization, and provides and excellent opportunity for us all to meet old friends and make new ones.

Competitor entry fees are kept simple and the same as last year. £20 for your first category and then free for individual events there after.

Spectators can also pay on the day.
Adults - £5.00
Children - free

Protective equipment
Mitts and gum shields are compulsory for all kumite events.

Chest and groin guards are recommended.

Mitts are also required for jukuren.

Adult team kata (team code required for entry)
Teams consist of 3 karate-ka, and grade and any gender. At least 2 team members must be 16 or over. One member can be under 16yrs.

Parent-child paired kata (team code required for entry)
This is a new category this year. It will run under the same system as team kata.
A pair must be an adult karate-ka with their child (under 16). Any gender, any grade.

Individual kata
Novices to 1st Kyu - can repeat kata in both rounds and finals.
Dan grades - cannot repeat in rounds, can repeat for finals.
Team/paired - cannot repeat in rounds, can repeat for finals.

Jukuren
Karate ka will be judged on quality, variety and number of techniques.
Only techniques that are allowed in kumite are allowed in jukuren.

Team kumite
Teams comprise of two male and one female karate-ka.
